First blog post!

Hey everyone!

Hope the New Year is going great for you and you enjoyed your holidays. I'm Chelsea, the girlfriend of #19, Matt Keith. I'm very excited to stat blogging for the website, and to give my perspective on the "hockey wife" life here in Sweden.

Matt didn't sign until July 1st this past summer, and up until that point, I would be asked on a daily basis by everyone if I would be moving to Europe with him. The more the question was asked, the more stressed out I felt. To be totally honest, I had no idea what I wanted to do. Picking your life up and moving to another country is a big deal, and I wanted to make sure I was being smart about it. 

Matt spent last season playing 20 minutes away from our home. We had all our friends and family around us, I was able to still work 5 days a week, and we were able to spend the holidays with our families. To me, at that time, that was perfect. I had a lot of thinking to do though about the upcoming season, and ultimately, I chose what was best for myself, and don't regret it for a second. I've seen and experienced so many things with Matt I never would have had the chance to if I stayed home. 

It wasn't at all easy to leave my friends and family behind. Even quitting my job was difficult. I've have been working since a very young age, and it's always just been part of who I am to work. There have been times when I have felt uncomfortable, or lonely, but those feelings quickly passed when I met the other wives and girlfriends on the team. I have met some of the most amazing girls here, and made some friendships that will last a life time. 

Chelsea
