Hej hej, everyone! Hope those of you that came to the game on Wednesday enjoyed it. Matt's parents are in town for the next couple weeks, so it was great to be there with them when they took in their first Allsvenskan game.
I thought I'd write a little bit about Matt and I today, to sort of give you guys a better idea of who we are and our background.
Matt and I had been introduced to each other a couple times over the years through friends in passing, but it wasn't until the Spring of 2009 that we we became good friends. We started to spend more and more time together as summer progressed and really enjoyed just getting to know one another before he had to head off to America for another hockey season. We kept in close contact and were each able to make a few trips back and forth to see each other, and made things official early on in 2010. Matt and I have been living together since the summer of 2010, and are parents to 2 dogs, Rylie {an English bulldog}, and Charlie {a yorkie x pom x maltese}.
Matt signed with the Abbotsford Heat for the 2010/2011 season, which happened to be only 20 minutes from our home in Langley, BC {just outside of Vancouver}. It was great being able to be surrounded by friends and family, and Matt was finally able to spend Christmas in his own home for the first time since he had purchased it in 2006. It's the little things like that, that mean the most, as Matt usually spends Christmas on a plane.
Matt signed in July and was off to Sweden in early August, and I made the move over with the dogs just a few weeks later after finishing up with work. Since then life has been nothing short of amazing. I'm actually a bit sad thinking about how time has flown by so quickly, we really are enjoying our time here.
It's been such a great experience to share with each other, and we have been so fortunate to have met so many wonderful people here along the way. Matt said to me on New Years Eve just before midnight "If someone told you at this time last year, that you would be celebrating NYE in Sweden, would you believe them?" Not a chance. And Sweden has far exceeded any of our expectations, and kind of become a second 'home'.
