Hey everyone!
Hope you had a great week and were able to make it out to the game on Wednesday! It was pretty amazing to see that 521 girls came to take in the match. It was such a great idea to have all these different women come together and watch a game, and it seemed everyone really enjoyed themselves.
I grew up around sports, and have been a long-time fan of the NHL team, the Vancouver Canucks. When I first arrived here and met Emilie Wiklander, I was blown away at how much she knew about hockey. It was impressive to see a female know everything from top to bottom about the game, and to see she genuinely enjoys watching hockey. She is really bringing some great new ideas to the organization, and she definitely helped expand the fan base on Wednesday night!
I wont lie, I'm guilty of texting and missing some of the action, and at times I've missed Matt score goals {I catch the instant replays}, but this year I've really gotten into the games a lot more then the previous years. I'll ask Matt to explain certain plays, or words so I can better understand what it is he is talking about, rather then nodding my head and acting like I understand. I genuinely enjoy going to the games and watching him play, I know how much he loves hockey, and it's great to see him out on the ice playing hard and enjoying himself.
Having the girls night gave some women who have never caught a game before the chance to see how fun attending a match really is, and it was great to hear that a lot of them will be back to catch some more games for the remainder of the season!
I look forward to seeing more girls at the games, and I hope those that attended had a blast!
